The number of famous and beautiful expressionist paintings in the world today became so due to the artists disagreeing with the general rules of art. Ensor grew up spending a lot of time alone, learning about the world around him through the eyes of a budding artist. However, as he grew into that world, he became isolated through morbid thoughts about other people around him. He is famous for his ghostly art during the time of expressionism.

Expressionism touched the entire world of art. Many experts feel that because of Van Gogh’s contribution to this art form, other artists unwilling before to wield their feelings in their work began to do so. Spreading like a fever, expressionism began to surface in the early twentieth century in places like Germany, France, and Spain. Artists like Antonio Gaudi, Edward Munch, and Ernst Barlach produced work that is famous today due to their emotional and passionate depictions on canvas.

Art lovers today can display their favorite expressionist paintings at home or in the office. Many art galleries and shops sell hand painted copies that are so close to the original you will have to look closely to know it is a copy.
